The McMaster Centre for Scholarship in the Public Interest and the Bourns Lectureship in Bioethics present a talk by Dorothy Roberts, George A. Weiss University Professor of Law and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.
The talk, titled “Fatal Invention: The New Biopolitics of Race,” will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 1:00 – 3:00 pm in Convocation Hall, located on the second floor of University Hall at McMaster University. Roberts will address how the myth of the biological concept of race – revived by purportedly cutting-edge science, race-specific drugs, genetic testing, and DNA databases – continues to undermine a just society and promote inequality in a supposedly “post-racial” era.
Admission is free and all are welcome. Refreshments to be served.
